asdormire Posted July 21, 2007 Posted July 21, 2007 Enjoy something different. I belive it's an English. From South America (Bolivia I think): AGRUPACION FOLKLORICA PUKARA Los de Pukara - Labios Mentirosos los de pukara - por que me enamore de ti http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WJ7-WE2SVQU There are a lot more under "Pukara". I believe it's the bands name. I don't speak the language. Thanks Leo Yes, it is an English, if you lok at some of their other videos there is a close up. Really nice. And, music I can relate too as well. I like the celtic music fine friends, but this is closer to one of the musics I grew up with. Alan
Leo Posted July 23, 2007 Author Posted July 23, 2007 With the recent discussion about African Squashboxes and the lack of information, I thought it might be an interest to see what the rest of the world is doing with a concertina. So here are two more from South America. Chile: Julio Crespo y Conjunto Bolivia: Concertina Boliviana Thanks Leo

Leo Posted August 2, 2007 Author Posted August 2, 2007 Westville music guitar & concertina Moon River http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=43Z4Xr4nUkk English Concertina for Beginners Part 16 For those following Martyns nice video tutorial, not a concertina in site. Like Martyn said, (perhaps to put all the lessons together), your first play along with other instruments. Thanks Leo
Leo Posted August 9, 2007 Author Posted August 9, 2007 (edited) Moon River http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=43Z4Xr4nUkk Don't know the title. I don't have the correct font to display it, but it's a pleasant enough; a duet with concertina and guitar Dueling Instruments Concertina Tunes at Helen & Jame's Wedding My_New_Old_Lachenal.avi http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-8...h&plindex=4 brennan's fancy (Edgley C/G) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TdCJlmI_3N8 Concertina maker Bob Tedrow Thanks Leo Edited August 14, 2007 by Leo
m3838 Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 I always liked playing of Bob Tedrow. In the times, where all sound files I could find, where single line Irish reels, Bob had recording of thickly chordal playing, and it got me into thinking. I also like his Ukulele playing. What else is he playing? I wouldn't mind him recording some random tunes on CD, it could be called "tunes from a workbench", and include some muffled sounds from machines, punching holes, drilling, cars passing by, talking, loughing etc. Huh, Bob, what do you say?

Having spent most of last weekend with him, I have to agree. he has a nice strong chordal style. And he plays flute and guitar well also. We also did some trios with my wife, me on concertina, Robin on guitar and Bob and Robin singing harmony, a lot of fun. A good guy all around. Alan
Leo Posted August 18, 2007 Author Posted August 18, 2007 (edited) From Japan: mipomacky/ There are a few more listed under "more from this user" She does a nice job Fiddlers Three (the lady on the right is playing the concertina) Thanks Leo Edited August 18, 2007 by Leo
David Barnert Posted August 18, 2007 Posted August 18, 2007 From Japan: mipomacky/ There are a few more listed under "more from this user" She does a nice job I'm more impressed with the guitarist. He's doing some pretty neat things. Including, BTW, using his left thumb to finger the F chord (actually Bb, since he's capoed up a 4th). See the finger numbering thread.

I should have put up this page: http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=0691A082FDE9DDA6 On the right click "play all videos" for a nice mellow listening. I keep forgetting play lists when there are multiple tunes from the same person. It keeps the music up without changing the record so to speak. Especially if they are pleasant to listen to. Pete Dunk Posted August 19, 2007 Posted August 19, 2007 I'm more impressed with the guitarist. He's doing some pretty neat things. Including, BTW, using his left thumb to finger the F chord (actually Bb, since he's capoed up a 4th). The left thumb over the top is a pretty common thing amongst fingerstyle guitarists David. Never encouraged as a thing for beginners to do because it's classed as poor technique. I felt guilty for years using this trick until I saw a film of Segovia doing the self same thing in the middle of a classical piece with great aplomb, now I feel I'm in good company!
David Barnert Posted August 21, 2007 Posted August 21, 2007 The left thumb over the top is a pretty common thing amongst fingerstyle guitarists David.I know that. I do it myself, but only rarely. I have long fingers and prefer to play barre chords with my index finger across all six strings, but there are times when the left thumb comes in handy.
